Unitarian Universalist Congregation

New addresses

-- Unity of Bonita will hold services at its new church at 10 a.m. Sunday at 28285 Imperial Parkway, Bonita Springs. The Rev. Phil Schlaefer will deliver the message and Jerry Starsky will provide the music. Information: 947-3100

Transition of rabbis

Rabbi James Perman of Temple Shalom, 4630 Pine Ridge Road, Naples, will pass the mantle of leadership to Rabbi Brad Bloom and assistant Rabbi Baht Yameem Weiss at the 8 p.m. service June 30 and the 10 a.m. service July 1.

Rabbi Perman is retiring after 13 years at Temple Shalom. Rabbi Bloom came to Naples from Sacramento, Calif., and Rabbi Weiss, the first woman rabbi for the temple, was recently ordained from the Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion in New York. Information: 455-3030

Thrift sale

Penny Wise Thrift Shop of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church will have a half-price sale on lamps, clothing and shoes from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. today and June 26 through July 1. Proceeds benefits the church and local charities. Information: 947-3363

Missionary speaks to Sunday school

Quentin Nantz of Christ’s College, Taipei, Taiwan, will talk to the Sunday school classes at 9 a.m. July 2 at Marco Presbyterian Church, 875 West Elkcam Circle, Marco Island. Nantz, a former Lely High School English teacher, leads a team of missionary teachers at Christ’s College. Information: 394-8186

Scholarship winners

Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 6471 Golden Gate Parkway, Naples, presented the fourth Krista Kaye Cambridge-Nevins’ Scholarship Awards on June 11 to the following students: Maranatha Stephany Gabaud, $5,000, University of South Florida; Chandra Simmons, $3,500, University of Central Florida; and Leticia Casseus, $2,500, University of Florida.

Pastor attended general assembly

The Rev. David Swicegood of Marco Presbyterian Church attended the general assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America from June 20-23 in Atlanta. The general assembly meets once a year to review the overall ministry of the denomination through each of its committees and agencies.
