Man with 12 DUI charges gets 3-month sentence

A Golden Gate Estates man who crashed into five cars while suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol was sentenced today to three months in jail and three years of probation.

Travis S. Sutterfield, 31, of 14896 Pleasant Bay Lane, No. 6104, was charged with 12 counts of DUI following his arrest March 9 on Pine Ridge Road. He told authorities he was en route to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting when the crash occurred.

The 12 DUI charges are the result of Sutterfield striking multiple vehicles – some of which weren’t being driven by their owner – and causing damage to the vehicles. Separate counts of DUI are charged when property is damaged, when a person is injured and when the driver of the vehicle isn’t its owner.
