Scattered showers and storms could move into the region this afternoon with partly cloudy skies. The chance of rain today is 40 percent, the National Weather Service said.
The high temperature is expected to reach 92 degrees with a heat index as high as 102 degrees, forecasters said. Showers and strong storms are expected to be more numerous today on the state’s east coast.
After a low tonight of 74 degrees, forecasters said Thursday’s high again should reach the low 90s with a 40 percent chance of rain.
The rain chance will stay in the forecast through the middle of next week with highs in the low 90s, forecasters said.
The average high temperature for today’s date is 91 degrees, according to weather service records.
