Three Oaks Parkway bid $6 million over budget

The lowest bid to widen Three Oaks Parkway from Alico Road to Corkscrew Road came in nearly $6 million over budget this afternoon.

Michigan-based Posen Construction submitted a bid of $23,794,550.10 to win the roadway contract. The final Lee County staff estimate for the road widening was $18 million, said Cindy Logan, county contracts manager.

Staff will double-check the math of the Posen bid and the other two bids the county received to verify the numbers before Posen is officially named the contractor, Logan said.

Phoenix Construction Services put in a bid of $25,960,000. John Carlo Inc. bid $27,288,661.15.

Posen also has been awarded another stretch of Three Oaks Parkway, East Terry Street and Imperial Parkway. These are the first projects Posen has done in Southwest Florida.
