Tom Patri: Woods ready for second-half resurgence

Tiger Woods is about to light it up. Make no mistake, I expect a huge second half of this tour season. He will not lay down after the U.S. Open performance. All we saw there was the human side. He lost his father and best friend. He was not ready to play, physically or mentally. Period. End of story. He also wants to dispel any notion that Phil is the man. Phil might dispel that notion himself.

On the LPGA Tour, great to see Se Ri Pak back. What a brilliant shot in that playoff at The LPGA Championship. That tour has got talent like never before. Now if their commissioner can stop sticking her own foot in her mouth and try to mend some, any of the bridges she has blown up, maybe that tour can make a statement.

There have been well-documented departures of several high ranking officials on that tour. One insider recently told me that the inner workings are in a total shambles right now. Nobody seems to understand why this commissioner is so hell-bent on insulting every person and friend of the tour in sight. I personally don't think she makes it through the entire season.

Bring back Charlie Meachem! They finally have the talent, and really poor leadership. It's a sin.

Yours truly has been everywhere. Two weeks ago, I was at a Futures Tour event. There is some wonderful talent waiting in the wings. Then the last 10 days I was at the University of Florida Junior Camps — 10 days with 120 kids. What a blast. They will wear you out. Kids are so much fun. They are high energy sponges!

Now I'm off to New York for a corporate outing then back to Naples for my own junior camp. Golf is alive and well. Hope your summer is full of birdies. We have the British around the corner. Whaddya think ? That Tiger guy is my pick. Watch out Phil.
