Volunteers help to clean Lover's Key State Park

About 60 volunteers from local Target stores showed up at Lover's Key State Park in Bonita Springs this morning to help clean the area as part of the corporation’s annual volunteer day.

The employees from stores in Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties helped plant trees, pick up trash and trim overbrush along trails and on the beach.

Tray Cooper, district leader for Target, said the group wanted to volunteer somewhere where it could enjoy the results. Lover's Key was picked because it's a place where many people go, he added.

"They helped us tremendously," said park service specialist Maria Lightner. "The park wouldn't be in such pristine condition without these volunteers."
