A Bonita Springs man was in jail Thursday, accused of beating and raping a teenage girl.

Nelson Garcia, 26, of an unidentified address on Pawley Avenue, entered a south Fort Myers home on Monday and hit a teenage baby sitter, according to Lee County sheriff’s reports.
The girl told investigators she had heard knocking at the door, but ignored it. Garcia entered the home, then hit her in the face, knocking her unconscious. When she awoke, Garcia was assaulting her, according to sheriff’s reports.
According to reports, the girl attempted to push him off, but he hit her again and she passed out. When she awoke the second time, he was gone. The baby she was watching was not harmed.
The victim, identified only as Bonita girl between 12 and 16 years old, said she knew Garcia, though the report did not make clear how.
Garcia was arrested early Thursday. He has been charged with sexual assault, false imprisonment and burglary.
