One person killed in I-75 accident

Southwest Florida's first fatal accident of the July Fourth holiday weekend happened Friday at around 9:23 p.m. on Interstate 75, two miles south of the Corkscrew Road interchange.

A sport utility vehicle overturned, killing one person inside, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Both lanes of I-75 southbound were closed for about an hour, and by 11 p.m. the outside lane was open, an FHP spokesman said.

No further information was available at 11:30 p.m. as the FHP had several troopers on the scene.
