A list of local accomplishments and upcoming events.

New directors

The Edison College Foundation announced the following new directors for 2006-2007: Mike Davis, Mitch Hutchcraft, K.P. Pezeshkan, Patrick O’Connor and Tammy Surratt.

Holland T. Salley, chairman of the board of Holland Salley Design, was elected Collier County’s first honorary lifetime director of the Edison College Foundation Board of Directors.

Achievements and Accolades

-- “Happy Tails,” the television program that features pets for adoption from the Domestic Animal Services of Collier County, was awarded the National Association of Counties 2006 Achievement Award.

-- Heather Heckel, daughter of Susan Heckel of Naples, has been named to the third quarter dean’s list at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y. Heckel has a 4.0 GPA.

-- Kathy Herrmann Catino, CEO of the Naples Shelter for Abused Women & Children, will serve as the 2006-07 president of the board of directors for the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

-- Jessica Kennedy, daughter of Michael and Dori Kennedy of Naples, was named to the 2006 spring semester dean’s list at the University of Central Florida, College of Health and Public Affairs. Kennedy is a 2002 graduate of St. John Neumann High School.

-- Cynthia Lynn Lefferts, daughter of Peter and Jodie Lefferts of Naples, has been named to the 2006 spring semester dean’s list at Elon University in Elon, N.C.

-- Jacquline Marjorie McKenzie of Naples was named to the honors list at Virginia State University in Petersburg, Va.

-- Commander Andrew Mueller, son of Andrew and Valerie Mueller of Marco Island, turned over command of the Strike Fighter Squadron 204 on June 24 in New Orleans. The Strike Fighter Squadron 204 is a Navy Reserve F/A-18 fighter squadron based in New Orleans that provides fleet operational support and combat mobilization readiness.

-- Laura Richardson, daughter of Larry and Wendy Richardson of Naples, has been named to the 2006 spring semester dean’s list at York College in York, Pa. Richardson is a 2004 graduate of Naples High School.

-- Andrew White, son of Ed and Carol White of Naples, was named to the 2006 spring president’s honor roll at the University of Florida. White has a 4.0 GPA.

Graduations

-- Stephanie Badge, daughter of Gary and Susan Badge of Naples, graduated from the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine on May 27. Badge, a 1998 graduate of Lely High School, will be practicing small and exotic animal medicine at the Flagler Beach Animal Clinic in Flager Beach.

-- Jason Christopher Clodfelder of Naples graduated from Anderson University in Anderson, Ind., on May 6.

-- Buddy Hornbeck, son of Bud and Patty Hornbeck of Naples, graduated from the Culver Academies in Culver, Ind. Hornbeck was the captain of the football team and received first team All ARCA Recognition as a wide receiver. He was also the MVP for the school’s varsity basketball team.

-- Ashley A. White, daughter of Lucinda H. White of Naples, graduated from Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass. White is a graduate of Barron Collier High School.
