US Home changes to Lennar brand

Southwest Florida residents have known the US Home brand since the 1960s. But beginning on July 4, US Home will formally take the name of its parent company, Miami-based Lennar.

Lennar, which was founded in the 1950s, acquired US Home in 2000, but the homebuilder has operated under both brands in Collier, Lee, Desoto, Charlotte, Manatee and Sarasota counties.

“US Home always had a great name here,” said Darin McMurray, regional vice president. “We’ve been here since the 1960s.”

The two companies have operated as one for six years. McMurray said US Home was the first to build a development of regional impact in Collier, a designation given to large communities that get heightened regulatory scrutiny, when it built Lakewood in East Naples.

US Home is currently building Heritage Bay and Mango Cay in Collier and Bella Terra and Cypress Shadows in Estero.

McMurray said uniting under the Lennar name will serve to strengthen both brands. The current structure with multiple divisions will remain in place and no staff cuts are expected as a result of the branding change, the company said in a statement.

Shares of Lennar, which trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol LEN, rose $1.31 Thursday to close at $44.85.
