A man has been charged in the death of a 2-year-old girl who died as a result of injuries suffered last week, officials said today.
Todd Akers
Authorities responded at 7:15 p.m. Friday to 1210 Wildwood Lakes Blvd., No. 306, on a call for a medical emergency. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office said Todd Akers, 24, called for help after reporting that 2-year-old Abigail Napier had fallen off a bed and injured her head.
Napier was taken to a Naples hospital, then flown to All Children’s Hospital, where she was found to have numerous skull fractures, authorities said.
Investigators spoke with Akers, the boyfriend of the girl’s mother, and received information indicating he might have caused the injuries by tossing the girl on the floor, causing her to hit her head. Napier died as a result of her injuries.
