Beights wins Hill Run again

This unidentified runner enjoyed his participation in the 26th Annual 5 Mile Hill Run on Saturday along Marco's hilly streets.

More than 200 runners enjoyed nice weather for the 26th Annual 5 Mile Hill Run along the hillier streets on Marco Island on Saturday.

Former Lely cross country star Eric Beights, 22, again led all runners over the course in 26 minutes, 23 seconds. It marked his third straight win.

The overall female winner was Rachel Arotsky, 36, in 30 minutes, 40 seconds.

Marco’s Amber Prange, 23, had the best time for female Lely alumnus in 42:26. In her 20-24 age group she came in second behind Kate Werchek, 24, who ran the distance in 37:09

Marco’s Adam, 37:32 and Gavin Reinke, 38:52, followed Beights for Lely male alums.

In the 10-14 age group Marco’s Jade Dworkin won in 37:34. Marco’s Cindy Roloff was second in the 30-34 female age group in 43:30, behind returning champ Lisa Newborough, whose time was 42:17.

Marco’s Paul Rosales placed fifth in the 35-39 male category in a time of 39:14.

Marco police chief Roger Reinke came in 10th in the 45-49 male category in 40:13

Marco’s Sammy Miller came in fifth in the 55-59 female group in a time of 50:06.

Marco’s Greg Foote, in the 55-59 male group, came in seventh in 46:07. In the 60-64 male group Bob Dennison of Marco was sixth in 43:34.

Complete results can be found on the Web at the Gulf Coast Runners site who were race sponsors. All proceeds went to Lely High School’s cross country program.
