The Marco Island Eagles begin registration for six football teams on Saturday at Mackle Park.
Registration, from 10 a.m. to noon, is also for cheerleaders.
For football there are age and weight rules. Ages are 6 to 15, while weight classes at 75, 90, 105, 115, 125 and 140 pounds.
The organization is hoping to go from five to six teams this year as they play in the new Miami Xtreme Two Football League.
Preparing for their third year, the Marco Eagles look forward to a season with a more even playing field. Previously the teams played in the Miami Xtreme Football League where many of teams had more experience.
“We will be playing against teams that are more evenly matched this year,” Marco Commissioner Mike Snyder says. “The kids have enjoyed playing and it should be more fun when they have a good chance of winning games.” The new Division Two will feature six to eight teams that will be more on the same level as the Eagles.
“This should mean more competitive games, as well as more victories for Marco,” Snyder says.
Division Two remains part of the Miami Xtreme Football League, a division of the Orange Bowl Youth Football League and teams remain eligible for season-ending playoff matches.
The first practice is July 9 at Mackle Park.
