The Florida Gulf Coast University softball team ran its winning streak 11 straight games with a 4-3 win over CW Post, then saw it snapped with a 6-4 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic in the first day of the 2007 FGCU Spring Break Tournament. FGCU is now 19-3 on the year.
In the first game, FGCU got on the board immediately as Cheyenne Jenks of Naples singled and stole second before Carmen Paez drove in the game’s first run. C.W. Post answered in the top of the second with an unearned run. The Eagles would add two more in the bottom of the second as Jessica Gary of Naples singled to score Desiree Miller. Alisha Boyd of Naples doubled to bring Gary home and give FGCU a 3-0 lead.
C.W. Post had an answer again in the top of the fourth, this time with a home run from Jill Fisher. In the fifth, Megan Correia drilled a homer over the left field fence to knot the score again. FGCU took the lead for good in the sixth. With two outs, Roz Tyre singled and advanced on a wild pitch before Rachel Homan doubled home the winning run.
