Marco Players Theatre President Beverly Dahlstrom makes her first acting appearance with the Marco Players in their current production, Murder on the Rerun, now showing through Dec. 2. For tickets, call the box office from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 642-7270.
As all of the show’s performers were busy preparing for one of their final rehearsals last Friday night, Dahlstrom’s mind was clearly occupied by the many capacities needed of her in order to prepare for the first show Wednesday night.
But she did finally settle back for a few minutes to talk about her life and obvious passion for the theater, as a singer, actor, dancer, director and dinner-theater owner.
“This is Roxy and Bosley, they have careers, too. They’re our mascots,” she said as her two dogs rested on her lap.
Then she added, “I’ve studied singing, acting and dancing. I started acting in high school, and I was in the choir. And then I studied acting in college, and went to work as a professional actor in Maryland in my 20’s.”
Dahlstrom continued, “In my 30’s I had my own dinner theater in Maryland called The Eastern Shore. Then I taught acting, and singing. And then I moved to Naples seven years ago and performed with the Naples Players.”
Six years ago, she arrived to the Marco Players stage as director and now president.
“This is the first time I’ve been on the stage here acting,” Dahlstrom said of their newest production, Murder on the Rerun. “And it’s been baptism by fire.”
She added, “Pattie Zeisig and I are co-directing the show. I couldn’t do any work beyond the stage without Pattie. She’s amazing!”
Finally, “When we say who’s important, it’s like everybody is important!”
