Danny and the Juniors performance — not a joke

Everybody was a rockin’ and a rollin’ Monday and Tuesday night when “Danny and the Juniors” featuring Joe Terry performed at Capt. Brien’s Off the Hook Comedy Club.

“They brought us back to our teen years,” said Bonnie Millington, who was grooving to the band’s tunes throughout Monday night’s show. “I felt young again.”

And it was obvious that “Danny and the Juniors” were also feeling young, as they opened the show with one of their original hits “Let the Good Times Roll”. And the high-energy number put them on a roll for a full night of singing, dancing and comedy for a show that was part of their 50 anniversary tour to celebrate 50 years of touring and recording such classics as “At the Hop” and “Rock ‘n’ Roll is Here to Stay”.

“Their voices had the same power as they did when they were young. The show was such a hit,” Millington said.

Their second number in Monday’s set list kept the audience thrilled as they sang what could be considered classic rock’s national anthem, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Is Here To Stay”.

They followed that with a “Rock n’ Roll Bus Tour” segment, “Peggy Sue” by Buddy Holly, “Blueberry Hill” by Fat’s Domino, and many of their other original hits: “Sometimes When I’m All Alone” a capella, “Twistin’ USA”, “Pony Express” and a closer that left the crowd clapping for more: “At the Hop”.

“Everyone was singing along, and having a great time,” audience member Joyce Lucarelli said after Monday’s show. “And the dance floor was jam packed.”
