Marco Island Library Fall Classes 2007

Giuseppe Verdi: Passion above everything!
Dr. Ron Bowman, classical baritone, president of the Naples Opera Society and administrator of Hodges University, presents the life and operas of Verdi, the magnificent Italian maestro, in a multimedia format.

Entrepreneur meetings at Edison Collier campus
The Continuing Education Department at Edison Colleges Collier County campus in East Naples is sponsoring monthly meetings for entrepreneurs.
The Naples Entrepreneur Group shares ideas and networks from 6 to 8 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the new Conference Center.

Edison also offers several new classes for entrepreneurs, including Starting a Small Business, Building Your Business Plan and Search Engine Optimization.
Edison College is at 7007 Lely Cultural Parkway, off Collier Boulevard.
International College
International College, accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, offers associate, bachelors and masters degree programs among 13 fields of study including management, business, legal studies, accounting, health care, computer information technology and criminal justice. It also offers curriculum leading to certification from the certified Financial Planner Board of Standards.
Class schedules, academic programs and delivery methods are designed for working adults. Classes are held at night, on weekends, during the day and online.

Center for Lifelong Learning
The Center for Lifelong Learning gives adults the opportunity to learn more about subjects including art, religion, history, politics and music. There are no exams or grades.
The Creative Writing Workshop and Great Books Discussion Group are ongoing.
Programs are held at International College, Moorings Park and Bentley Village, all in Naples.

-- The Creative Writing Workshop is held from 10 a.m. to noon each Friday at the Naples campus, 2655 Northbrooke Drive, and simultaneously at Robb & Stucky Fine Furniture, 2777 Ninth St. N.
-- The workshops are designed to inspire and support people interested in all genres of writing. New writers are encouraged to join.
-- Great Books Discussion Group meets from 1 to 2:30 p.m. monthly at International College in North Naples. The group discusses selections from the Great Books Foundation, and individuals are invited to share their thoughts and insights about Western world literature. CLL membership is required to participate in Great Books.
-- Poetry Writing Workshop, led by
poets and teachers Al Cahen and George Kotlan, meets from 1:15 to 3:15 p.m. each Friday to provide a forum for poets, published or not, to share their poems and receive encouragement and feedback from their peers.
The Lorenzo Walker Institute of Technology is now accepting applications for enrollment, scholarships and financial aid for a number of programs offered in the fall term, beginning Aug. 14.
Studies include aviation, marine technology, automotive technology, accounting, legal administrative specialist, medical administrative specialist, PC support services, commercial foods and culinary arts, nursing assistant, massage therapy, medical assisting, surgical technology and practical nursing.
Financial aid is available for eligible students meeting the final deadline of Friday, July 28.
