A Pennsylvania-based company owned by a Marco Island resident has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit filed by home health caregivers for $2.2 million.
Total Health Home Care Corp., owned by resident Michael Callahan, was sued by some 3,000 employees for failing to compensate workers for time spent traveling between clients or for overtime accrued when travel caused workers to clock more than 40 hours in a week.
The settlement was announced by a press release from the Service Employees International Union-Healthcare Pennsylvania, a supporter of the employees who filed suit against the company for alleged violations of Pennsylvania law regulating wages.
Founded in 1985, Total Health provides at-home health services to seniors in Philadelphia and Delaware county seniors, in Pennsylvania.

Shame on you Mr. Callahan.......there is no excuse for being that cheap.

Why would you steal from people who are caring for the sick and elderly? That is unforgivable and I would never want to call you my neighbor.

You've got to be kidding me.....everyone knows there is more than one side to every story........How irresponsible to print a story with only half the information. Shame on the Marco Eagle for not doing their homework. Having worked in the field for over 20 years, I have never heard of such thing!

How is this one side of the story. These are the facts of the story. Another fact is that its about time greedy, slimy home care bosses pass the money they get from us taxpayers down to the people who actualy provide the care.
