Correction: Orion Bank, Marco Island, announces its new unveiling ceremony for ArtQuest 2008 to be held at 3:45 p.m. Nov. 15, at Orion Bank. Artquest 2008 sculptures at The Esplanade are scheduled to be unveiled at 5 p.m. Nov. 15. ArtQuest 2008 sculpture at Orion Bank, Marco Island, is scheduled to be unveiled at 4 p.m. Nov. 15 at Orion Bank.

The sculptures of the Marco Island Foundation for the Arts’ ArtQuest 2008 will remain hidden under blue tarps — until sponsors celebrate the grand unveilings. These will be held at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. at The Esplanade Nov. 15.

“The leaders and businesses are very upbeat and supportive, and that’s who I want to be associated with, those who want to continue to build Marco Island and make it a better location,” said Orion Bank’s Keith Dameron, who is a previous Marco Island Foundation for the Arts (MIFA) board member, creative cultivator of the arts and one of this year’s ArtQuest 2008 sponsors.

Charde Exit Realty has been inspired to revamp its historic building and host a ribbon- cutting ceremony and other festivities with their unveiling at 3 p.m.

“We’re excited about the artwork and showing it off and being part of this program,” Allen DuQuet of Exit Charde Realty said. “We’ve got a new roof, new brick paving, new awning and all new landscaping. We’re excited about getting the artwork out in front to be the finishing touch to an end result which will be something we can all enjoy.”

The artist unveiling at Coast to Coast Homes has another sculpture in this year’s ArtQuest and showed at last year’s.

“The artist will be here and be open to discuss his work,” Petra Roller said about its unveiling at 3 p.m. at 216 N. Barfield Drive. “We will have a couple refreshments, champagne, wine — and then we’ll all head over to The Esplanade. We just hope to make this a fun and exciting event for the whole community ... Walk-ins are always welcome, the more the merrier.”

Ruth McCann of the Civic Association said, “At 3 p.m. the Marco Island Civic Association will unveil the artwork at the entrance to Residents Beach — just to the south of the entrance. We’ll have a representative from MIFA and MICA there — to make the presentation, and talk a little bit about the artist. And we’ll have a toast to the artist and to the artwork.”

Marco Town Center Mall Merchants Association will hold its customer-appreciation day in concert with two of the 3 p.m.

ArtQuest unveilings, said Christie Marcoplos, the association’s president.

“One of them will be near the Marco Players Theater, and the other is being unveiled down by the trolley stop,” said Marcoplos who is the owner of Blue Mangrove Gallery. “Blue Mangrove Gallery is having a guest artist, Tara O’Neill, and Linens Plus is having their grand opening, and other stores are doing anything from drawings, specials and serving tasty treats.”

Each of this year’s sponsors will offer a unique celebration to be held at their unveilings.
