Bill Moss' e-mail to councilors about interest in Naples city manager job
Dear Councilors:
I regret providing this information by email. However, there are times when I find it easier to communicate in writing rather than in person.
As you may know, Robert Lee, City Manager of Naples, has resigned. The City Council has retained an executive search firm to assist in recruiting a replacement. I have informed the executive search firm of my interest in the position.
The City of Naples will attract exceptionally qualified applicants from across the country. I have no way of knowing whether I will be among the five or so candidates that will undergo the two-day interview process. Even if I am, it is certain that the other finalist will be well-qualified, and the City Council will offer the position to the individual who they believe will best work with them and their community.
The search process is subject to Government in the Sunshine. Therefore, the names of candidates may be published this or next week. The Naples City Council is on a fast track, so the process should not take long. They plan select their finalist within two weeks and will make their decision following interviews scheduled on October 21st and 22nd.
I want to assure you that my decision has nothing to do with you, your colleagues on City Council, our organization, and our community. I thoroughly enjoy working for you and the citizens we serve.
I wish to provide several other assurances. The first is that we have department directors and employees who are as good as any we will find. I predict they will continue to perform well during and after the selection process, regardless of the outcome. The second is that my attention will be focused first on Marco Island throughout the selection process. The third is that if I am not the selected candidate or do not accept an offer of employment, I will be equally pleased to continue working for the Marco Island City Council and the community we serve.
The decision has been very difficult for Faye and I. I thank you for your understanding and support.
Bill Moss
City Manager

I find it pretty arrogant for Mr. Moss to say that if he isn't selected, he will continue to work for Marco in his current capacity. But what else could one expect from a person who professes not to be political, and whose arrogance has been on display 10 years..in later years dealing with his puppets on the Council.

Dear Councilors :
Here's your thanks for the 6% raise. Apparently he has no respect for you either.
An email forwarded off to each of you - so much for integrity and/or common sense.
