All three will give you access to Marco Island’s City Council Monday night as the meeting goes live for the first time on channel 12.
Comcast hit an early completion date for the hookup, thanks to the company’s expedience in borrowing a piece of necessary equipment to make the connection official, city Public Information Coordinator Lisa Douglass said Wednesday. It will allow residents to tune in live Monday night as Council continues the process of selecting the city’s next — and second-ever — permanent city manager.
Council is slated to accept a short list of candidates from search consultant Tom Freijo, of the firm The Mercer Group Inc. However, council may have to further narrow the list in order to reduce the candidate pool to six, what Freijo has called a “manageable” number to interview. His task since the March 17 council meeting has been to weed out candidates whose records contain blemishes egregious enough to constitute a “kiss of death” to their candidacy.
Douglass said the live broadcast of the meetings is especially crucial while the city goes about choosing its next manager — something that helped get the connection established more quickly.
“The city is extremely thankful to Comcast, because they realized how important the city manager selection process is,” Douglass said.
Candidate interviews and the council’s final deliberations will also be broadcast live April 14 and 15. Interviews with the full council will begin at 8 a.m., and continue until 3 p.m., April 14, before a tour of the city and a “Meet the Candidates” social for the general public from 6 to 8 p.m.
City Council is slated to deliberate and select a city manager at 3 p.m., April 15, following one-on-one interviews between the candidates and the council members.
