Scholarship to assist adult women in continuing education
The Marco Island Branch of the American Association of University Women is hoping to ease the financial burden of college tuition to deserving adult women.
The association is offering the Martha Yates Adult Scholarship of $500 to adult women currently enrolled in a college or university.
Women who apply must be 21 or older, have proof of economic need and be currently residing in Marco Island, Isles of Capri or Goodland.
Scholarship Chairperson Geri Schwab said this opportunity is part of the American Association of University Women’s goal to help women.
“I think that the association looks at adult women wanting to be lifelong learners in a positive way,” said Schwab. “We try to give any assistance we can to help adult women wanting to continue their education.”
In 2006 the Martha Yates Adult Scholarship was awarded to Stacie Marie Kelley and Lisa Sikorski.
Women interested in the scholarship can request an application to be made in writing to Geri Schwab at 9035 Michael Circle #4, Naples, Fla. 34113. Scholarships are due May 15.
