East Winterberry Bridge construction will begin early Thursday morning as concrete trucks arrive starting at 3 or 4 a.m., to place slabs for the bridge’s deck.
Public Works Director Rony Joel said the construction was scheduled to start in the early morning hours so the trucks could avoid traffic and complete the work swiftly.
Residents using the same route as the trucks should expect delays until about 11 a.m., and residents living along that route may experience noise disruptions as a result of the increased early-morning traffic.
According to a city press release, the trucks will use Collier Boulevard to Barfield Drive, then south to Winterberry Drive. The intersection at Barfield Drive and Winterberry Drive will be modified to allow the trucks to enter that area as quickly as possible.
Joel told City Council at Monday’s meeting that if all goes according to plan, the bridge could reopen as early as June 14.
