Several multimillion dollar real estate transactions, covering virtually the last stretch of Marco Island’s famous beach front property, are reported under way. Sales totaling $14 million are reportedly involved in the beach front property south of the 1,150-foot beach frontage Deltona has reserved for a second luxury hotel and a point near Swallow Court. Neil Bahr, president of Deltona Land Investment Co., said “Serious negotiations are being conducted on several pieces of property. We have deposits in hand and we hope to consummate several sales, although it may take a considerable amount of time.” An early approval is expected by the county on the sale and transfer of Marco Island’s Caxambas Transportation Service to Sammy Hamilton, mayor of Everglades City. He is owner of a successful Everglades boat tour business. Hamilton plans purchase of two 40-passenger buses, equipped with public address systems for charter service, plus a 15-passenger van for daily service to Naples and Vanderbilt Beach. Hamilton plans to include the Everglades National Park in Everglades City where he operates three tour buses.
Ground was broken for the Princess Del Mar condominium complex, a 72-unit luxury residence on the Island’s Gulf of Mexico beach. Each owner will have a view of the Gulf. Marco Beach Realty, of which Leonard Llewellyn is president, is the executive sales agent for the Princess Del Mar.
The Lely girls softball team racked up a 10-0 win over the Everglades Gators as they ready for district play. Margaret McKenzie was the winning pitcher as the Trojans exploded with an overpowering offense. Lori Bice rapped out four hits, while Lauri Berntsen slapped out three hits. Rice is the team’s leading hitter with a .400 average, while the team is hitting a whopping .375.
