Marco’s Lauren Embree readies to slam return in her winning final match of the USTA 18-and-under Clay Court Championship in July 2008.

Marco Island’s Lauren Embree was eliminated in the consolation quarterfinals Saturday at the USTA Girls 18s National Championships in Berkeley, Calif.

Embree, the No. 17 seed, fell to 12th-seeded Kristie Ahn 6-2, 6-2.

Ahn later advanced to Sunday’s final when Christina McHale withdrew with an injury. Ahn will face eighth-seeded Mallory Cecil in the final.

In the main draw, top-seeded Gail Brodsky will play No. 3 seed Coco Vandeweghe for the title today.
