I am unable to attend the meeting Aug. 18 regarding the new and additional tax proposed by City Council. Marco fire and rescue services have been traditionally funded by property taxes paid by Marco Island taxpayers.
If there are no longer sufficient funds to provide these critical services, I suggest the city management find some areas within their control to reduce costs to provide the funds needed for fire and rescue services.
No matter what the rhetoric, this additional $158 per year is a tax increase being imposed upon Marco taxpayers. No! No! No! Put the proposal of increased taxes on a referendum and see if Marco taxpayers want a tax increase.

This council has four years to inflict their grand plans on us. Why would they go to a referendum on anything? They don't care what we want. They march to the drum of John Arceri and Resort Management. We just pay the bills.
