ESTERO The Florida Gulf Coast University men’s soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with Barry University on Saturday afternoon at the FGCU Soccer Complex.
It was the second exhibition of the year for the Eagles, who tied Eckerd College 2-2 on Aug. 17.
FGCU opens the regular season Friday against No. 9 Ohio State in the Bert and Iris Wolstein Classic in Columbus. The Eagles then play Penn State on Aug. 31.
* WOMEN’S SOCCER: After Friday night’s rainout against Florida Atlantic, the Eagles open the regular season at 7 p.m. Sunday in Miami against Florida International.
FGCU won last year’s matchup with the Panthers 3-2 in overtime. Lindsay Haw scored the game-winner in the 91st minute of that contest.
