NAPLES One lane of U.S. 41 East in eastern Collier County was closed Saturday afternoon following a bad one-vehicle traffic accident, authorities say.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol traffic Web site, traffic moved through the area in alternating directions one lane at a time to get past the accident.
A medical helicopter was called to the scene to transport the driver, who was seriously injured, FHP officials said.
Only the driver was injured, FHP officials said. No additional information on the name of the person was immediately available.
The wreck occurred around 12:45 p.m. along U.S. 41 in Ochopee several miles east of the Collier Boulevard-U.S. 41 turnoff to Marco Island, authorities said.
FHP arrived on the scene around 1:30 p.m.
All of the lanes re-opened around 3 p.m.
