What a weekend at the YMCA! The 18 Annual Love of the “Y” Tennis Tournament was held this last weekend and all eight tennis courts were in use with single and double matches held.
It was a joy to watch as the best players from Marco Island, Naples and surrounding areas played their very best to win their matches.
Connie, Autumn and the volunteer staff did a heck of a job to make the weekend run smooth and everyone was happy! It was nice to see the spectators on the bleachers watching the matches.
Since I’m on the subject of tennis, I need to tell you about the 18 Annual Sony Ericsson Open Bus Trip scheduled for March 31. A bus load of tennis enthusiasts will travel from Marco Island to Key Biscayne for the Sony Ericsson Open.
The cost is $70 for “Y” members and $75 for others. Only 52 seats are available, so register and pay for the trip as soon as possible. You can do so at the Customer Service desk where Connie and Autumn are available to answer any questions there or by calling 394-3144 ext. 224.
Miss Dottie’s popular swim lessons are back on the schedule for March 17 to March 27. Cost for members is $50 and non members pay $70. Receive a $10 discount with proof of Marco Island residency. Parent/Child will meet at 5:30 p.m. from Monday thru Thursday for the two week period. For more information call Dottie at 394-3144 ext 204.
There is a Teen Social scheduled for tonight from 7 to 10 p.m. at the YMCA Gym. Tickets are only $10. It will be $1 carnation night. Buy a carnation and have the DJ deliver it during the dance.
The “Shark of the Park” skateboard and in-line skate competition registration continues at the skate park. Register on Feb. 16 or 23 and no later than Feb. 24 at 8:30 a.m. Entrée fee is $10 and spectators are requested to contribute at least $2 as a donation to the skate park.
Tickets are selling at a brisk pace for Stan’s Roast slated for March 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Marco Marriott Resort and Spa. Individual tickets are $150 each and a corporate table of 10 will be a $2000 donation.
Now I have an important announcement... ta da! Join your friends and neighbors at the First Annual YMCA Expo! Explore the many divisions of the YMCA by educating yourself at our program booths. Learn about the various programs, fund raising activities, financial assistance to families, volunteer opportunities and more! It’s also Member Get A Member day. If you are a current member and your guest signs up for a membership, you both will receive a YMCA Gym bag.
Remember the day, March 1 from noon to 3 p.m. in the YMCA Gymnasium and best of all, it’s free to everyone!
