Marco residents saddled up to donate generously at the Marco Island Cancer Society’s Cattle Baron’s Ball. The western-themed charity drive was held Saturday at the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort.

Donations from the ball will go to the American Cancer Society and Reach Out to Cancer Kids Camp (R.O.C.K.)

For event organizer Jenny Ann Oister, it was an emotional evening.

This year’s Cattle Baron’s Ball was dedicated to Oister’s grandson Kevin Wilson Eveland, who died last year of a heart condition. He was 8 years old. Oister described her relationship to Kevin as “a special bond.”

According to Oister, the sponsors and supporters of the charity event helped make this year’s ball a success.

“I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of all my friends that have come and supported this event,” said Oister.
