Your News: Mackle Park offers chance to dance into the new year

— The City of Marco Island’s Parks and Recreation Department is ready to dance into the New Year with adult dance programs. Make a New Year’s Resolution to learn a new type of dance move. Sign up today or just stop in for ballroom, line, ballet, or tap dance classes. All classes will be held at Mackle Park.

Ballroom Dancing – Classes start Monday, January 7th. Learn to dance like the professionals with instructor Mary French who has over 20yrs of ballroom dancing experience. There is a beginner class from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and an advance class from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The cost is $20/couple per class. Walk-ins are welcomed.

Line Dancing –Classes have already started. Boot scoot along the dance floor with Iris Mooney learning the latest dance steps to some old and new country songs. Classes for beginners are every Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.; Classes for intermediate dancers is Wednesday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. The cost is $6/class, all levels of dancers are welcomed.

Ballet Dancing – Classes start January 11th. Glide gracefully across the floor and add a pirouette with instructor Judy Reis. Judy will teach beginning ballet techniques Friday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. The cost is $8/class.

Snappy Tappers – Classes start January 11th. Deprived of tap dance lessons as a child? Then sign up for Snappy Tappers for a toe tapping good time. Learn tap dance instruction and get an additional benefit of good old fashioned exercise and. Tap dancing is offered Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m..
