For the Love of Cats held its second annual Free Car Wash at Progressive Auto Center on Bald Eagle Drive Sunday, January 6th.
More than 50 enthusiastic volunteers vacuumed cars, greeted people with "goodie bags" stuffed with promotional material from over 30 generous sponsors like Progressive Auto Center, Orion Bank, the Marco Island Eagle, Condee Heating and Cooling, Christopher Realty and many others.
Several kittens were on hand under the care of the shelter manager, Linda Levine, to help educate islanders about the work that For the Love of Cats does to sterilize the stray cat population and rescue, socialize and adopt the homeless kittens.
The group washed 583 cars in 5 1/2 hours and raised over $6400. "We are very grateful for the wonderful support and generosity of everyone who had their car washed - we all love our pets!" says Jan Rich, President of For the Love of Cats.
