“Patsy Cline – The Lady, The Music” is an original two-act musical stage show featuring singer-actress Larraine. The show pays tribute to Patsy Cline’s life and the music she made popular in the 50s and 60s, music that people remember and play even now.

In the show, Larraine portrays the legendary country singer and weaves a fascinating story of Patsy Cline’s life and career. She’ll sing 24 of Patsy’s greatest hits.

“I like to give an intimate and honest portrayal of Patsy and a lively and true sampling of Patsy’s music, including pop and gospel as well as country,” Larraine said. In fact, she performed the show on Marco Island in 2001 and 2002 for 4,400 people.

“I try to capture the moments in Patsy’s life that reveal the many facets of her character, such as her kindness, sensitivity, boldness, and sassiness. It’s not just singing. It’s a musical stage show where I come out and tell the story of Patsy Cline.

“When I do a tribute, I like to do a tribute to her life and career,” Larraine stated, “from her childhood growing up in Winchester, Virginia, to her stardom in Nashville to her tragic death in a plane crash in 1963. The show is lively and entertaining, and people love how it brings back many memories.”

Larraine likes to pay tribute to female singers who have contributed a lot to the musical world. She also likes a person whose character she can really “sink her teeth into” as an actress, one whose life is full of ups and downs and persons that aren’t always “perfect.” Her characters ring true and are authentic, not just one-dimensional caricatures. “I try to bring a certain honesty and warmth to my portrayals. That’s what people relate to the most, I’ve found,” she continued.

Her shows take a great deal of preparation by not only reading and researching the lives of singing legends like Patsy Cline and Rosemary Clooney, but also studying their vocal styles and the way each song they sang told a story with a beginning, middle and end. Patsy was a singer who captivated her audiences with her unique singing style and brought humor and warmth to her performances.

“I try to do that as well – really identify with the emotions behind the words and tell a story that takes the audience on a little journey just as the play in its entirety takes one on a journey. This is where my acting comes into play,” Larraine commented.

Other shows Larraine has done in the past are Country Queens, a special tribute to some of the greatest women of country music; Oldies But Goodies, a lively tribute to the music of the 50s and 60s; Broadway Babe, featuring Broadway musical showstoppers and the story of a Broadway “has been” who experiences the thrill of success; and Big Band Singer – A Tribute to Rosemary Clooney based on her life and music. Larraine has performed in 123 shows before audiences of approximately 12,000 people.

In 2008, she will be giving the show a new look and many new songs. The show is one-hour and 45-minutes long with a 15-minute intermission. It is being held at Marco Island United Church located at 320 N. Barfield Drive on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 18 and 19; Thursday, Feb. 23; and Friday and Saturday, March 7 and 8.

The show will also be performed at the Norris Center Theater in Naples in Cambier Park, 755 8th avenue S, Friday and Saturday Feb. 8, 9, 15, and 16. Tickets can be purchased at the box office at Norris Center or by calling 239-213-3049.
