Miami Artist Fred Caravetta participated in the unveiling of his steel sculpture “Dancing Terns” at MICA’s Residents’ Beach.

When he saw how perfect it was for the location, he turned to MIFA board member/ArtQuest 2008 installation chair Jim Johnson and said, “This sculpture belongs in here. I hereby donate it to you, with the stipulation that it stays where it is, at Residents’ Beach!”

A surprised and delighted Johnson, who is also on the MICA Board, graciously accepted the donated piece on behalf of the Foundation for the Arts. Later that day MICA President Kathy Sullivan announced the donation at the ArtQuest 2008 opening at the Esplanade.

The Marco Island Foundation for the Arts heartily agreed to the arrangement.
