The Marco Island YMCA brought down the curtain on this year’s eight-week Youth Basketball League in handsome fashion with its annual Basketball Bash at the Airnasium on Saturday.
With approximately 48 already-crowned champions participating in the three age groups, (K-1, 2-3, 4-5), The YMCA’s Vince Lorio led a fun-filled morning of basketball activities that included basketball relays, team hot shots, slam dunk competitions, and a three-point shooting contest in the 4-5 division.
Each division’s competitions were followed by individual trophy presentations to each of the participants.
“Today was a way of wrapping up the Youth Basketball year with a fun activity for everybody involved,” Lorio said. “The kids and coaches have been practicing and playing ever since November, except for short breaks for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It’s been a long season. That’s’ why the Basketball Bash is just a fun way to end the season and everybody enjoys doing it.”
