The Bach Ensemble is auditioning singers to join the 40-voice chorale, instrumentalists and soloists, to perform works by J.S. Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven, as well as by John Rutter and others, during the 2008-09 season.

The Holiday Concert will be Sunday, December 14 at the Moorings Presbyterian Church and the Winter Concert March 22 at the Naples United Church of Christ. Dr. Ronald E. Doiron, conductor, and members of The Bach Ensemble Board, also are auditioning singers to supplement the core group for a future performance of Bach’s monumental Mass in B Minor. To arrange an audition, please call 239-591-6120 or bachensemblevp@gmail.com

Both the memorable Bach Cantata BWV 50, to be performed March 22, 2009, and the awesome Bach Mass require a rousing double chorus. Weekly rehearsals are scheduled September through April at the Community School in Naples. For information on all 2008-09 events, see the new Bach Ensemble website and “Contact Us” page. The new website also offers listeners selections from the Ensemble’s performance repertoire.

The Ensemble and co-sponsor First Academy of Music at First Presbyterian Church in Bonita Springs will hold the “First Annual Bach Festival,” for ages 5-18, Saturday October 25. Music teachers, voice and piano students are invited to review the rules published on the Ensemble website and take part in the program.

Dr. Doiron will present a free public lecture, “Bach & Beethoven: Rock and Roll,” at the Collier County Headquarters Library, Airport-Pulling Rd. at Orange Blossom Dr., Tuesday evening March 3 2009.

Benefit galas for The Bach Ensemble will be held Saturday evening November 15 at The Inn on Fifth and in Spring, 2009. See the website for details.

The Ensemble’s “Troubadours,” an ensemble of 8-16 singers, will perform carols, show tunes, jazz standards and special requests at private events throughout the season; please see the website.

Interested sponsors and volunteers for future Bach Ensemble performances may review the website for early information.
