Soccer with a caring touch.

That is how Chris Adams of Challenger British Soccer Camp explains his unique camp.

“The Challenger way addresses technical, tactical, physical and psychological requirements of the game at each age level, while focusing on the child as an individual, not just a player,” he said.

Well-trained coaches communicate their knowledge in a way that inspires and motivates young players.

Adams says they have used 20 years of research to develop their program, even to the 3-year-old level.

That is right, First Kicks is a new aspect of the camp for 3-year-olds. There is a mini-soccer class for 4 and 5-year-olds and a half-day class for kids 6 to 16. Another new offering is for goal keepers, ages 6 to 16.

The camp runs Aug. 4 to 8 at the YMCA. First Kicks runs from 9 to 10 a.m. at a cost of $80. Mini soccer runs from 10 a.m. to noon, with a cost of $105. The half-day class is 9 a.m. to noon for $130. The goalie class, 1 to 3 p.m., is $105.

Coach John Worsnop, returns for his fourth camp. He is a semi-pro soccer player and studies sports science at the University of York near Leeds. The second coach has not been named.
