On the Menu: The art of fine Italian food and fun: Arturo’s “Summer of Love”

Arturo's Ristorante Italiano

844 Bald Eagle, Marco

At Arturo’s the dining experience is not only about terrific Italian cuisine, but at Arturo’s, the nurturing service, the caring family atmosphere and the fun that begins with every visit, ventures well beyond the norm and into the extraordinary.

In the upcoming months, Arturo’s will not only be celebrating 14 years as a Marco favorite for fine dining, but with the arrival of the summer season, Arturo’s is excited to announce over 1,000,000 of Arturo’s famous stuffed pork chop entrées have now been served.

Can it be any wonder that when blending the charm of the Northern Italian culinary arts with a heartfelt and family-style flair for fun, an emotion is produced that that can only be described as love? At Arturo’s, it really is all about the love.

Upon entering Arturo’s, a special ambiance emerges and surrounds visitors with a genuine feeling of welcome home, and perhaps something more.

“Welcome to Arturo’s!” Is not only a greeting but also a way of life for Judy and Arturo

Perez. With Arturo and his sons in the kitchen, daughter Marisol greeting at the door, and Judy and her closer-than-family-staff, welcoming newcomers and old friends alike, that’s when the magic moments begin that last throughout the evening.

With a full moon over Marco, the culinary adventuress and I arrived at Arturo’s and were welcomed into the family. From Marisol, Maryann and Judy at reception to Wade behind the bar, the genuine article of caring and sincere service is more than obvious to anyone visiting Arturo’s.

Arturo’s atmosphere is casual chic with a big city flair that simply does not take away from the cozy and intimate surroundings. With impressive original artwork, suggesting a scene from Tuscany and with subtle and well-placed lighting setting the mood for intimacy, Arturo’s really shines with a glow that is much more than anything material.

When our server Juan arrived, he just didn’t take drink orders and fill water glasses, he asked if our table was alright, if we would prefer more light or less and if we would like sparkling water or still.

We chose still water and then ordered Artinis

After Juan’s return and the arrival of twin Artinis — a dirty Martini with gorgonzola stuffed olives — we were anxious for appetizers.

The Beef Carpaccio is always irresistible, and with thinly sliced filet mignon delicately served with extra virgin olive oil and a caper and arugula salad. A wonderful way to begin at Arturo’s is only an appetizer away. For $13.95, the Beef Carpaccio is simply outstanding.

The Eggplant Rollatine is another tasty starter with roasted eggplant slices stuffed with ricotta and topped with melted mozzarella and a mouth-watering marinara sauce. This is another great beginning for $9.95, and will certainly set the Tuscan tone for an evening of fun.

For dinner, we chose the Veal Saltimbocca a la Romana for $23.95, and a tempting nightly special, the Chicken Abondanza for $21.95.

The Chicken Abondanza was a wonderful creation of twin sautéed chicken breasts, artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes and roasted red peppers finished with a creamy and savory chardonnay wine sauce.

Vicki Lynn proclaimed her entrée to be, “simply heavenly!”

My choice was a personal favorite just because of the wonderful combinations of flavor. The Veal Saltimbocca a la Romano reaches beyond expectations and features tender medallions of veal enhanced with fresh herbs and sautéed with prosciutto, served over a bed of garlic sautéed spinach. For veal fans, garlic spinach fans, or aficionados of herbs de province, the Veal saltimbocca at Arturo’s is true culinary art.

To celebrate the art of fine Italian food and fun that is Arturo’s and to commemorate the milestone of serving over one million entrées that many consider to be the best stuffed pork chop ever, Arturo’s wishes to offer a show of gratitude by introducing a “Summer of Love” menu with incredible discounts for special evenings.

I love Arturo's stuffed pork chop. But I've got to question the 1,000,000 number. If Arturo's was open every single day for 14 years, that means they've served an average of almost 200 stuffed pork chops a day. Maybe my math's wrong, but that's a whole lot of stuffed pork.
