Marco police briefs: June 25, 2008

Theft

Defendant Anthony E. Hapstak, 27, of 960 Cape Marco #404, Marco Island was arrested while being held at the Naples Jail Center 9:47 a.m. June 18 on other charges by the Marco Island Police Department for a prior theft that took place on Marco Island back in May of this year. Total estimated value of stolen property from the 7-Eleven Store on 641 South Collier Blvd. was approximately $90.

Possession of Marijuana

Keith Roach, 40, was arrested near his home, 720 Bald Eagle Drive, after he was observed walking in the rear alley at 2 a.m. June 18. A search revealed Roach was in possession of marijuana. He was released at the scene on a Notice to Appear in Court.

Theft from a Vehicle

Bernard Wegman reported that over a period of time between December 1, 2007 and 9 a.m. June 18, someone had stolen several auto accessories from his truck while parked in the storage lot at Allard’s Storage, 840 E. Elkcam Circle. Total estimated value of stolen property is approximately $742. Investigation continues.

Warrant Arrest

Casey Thomas Travis, 19, of 1003 Angler’s Cove Apt. 304, Marco Island, was arrested on an active warrant out of Collier County for failure to pay a traffic fine while officers conducted an investigation at 657 S. Collier Blvd. 12:33 p.m. June 18. He was transported to the Naples Jail Center.

Driving while License Suspended

Jennifer Ortega, 31, of 9288 Grassi Way, Naples, was arrested following a traffic stop for driving while license suspended near the 1300 Block of N. Collier Blvd. 10 a.m. June 19. She was issued a citation for a Notice to Appear in Court.

Theft

An employee of the 7-Eleven Store, 641 S. Collier Blvd. reported a theft of several cases of water that were located outside the front of the store at 1:50 a.m. June 22. Total value of stolen property is estimated at approximately $35. Investigation continues.

Criminal Mischief

Joanne Wilkes reported damage to her lanai screen door at her home located at 680 Worthington Street 9:30 a.m. June 22. Wilkes reported that the damage occurred sometime the previous evening. Damage is estimated at approximately $50.

Theft

Leonides DeJesus-Colocho, 32, of 139 Marco Lake Dr. #313, was arrest 6:30 p.m. June 22 at 568 Eden Ct. Unit 227, after it was reported that he had stolen several items valued at approximately $921. He was transported to the Naples Jail Center.

Battery

While on patrol at 1 a.m. June 23, an officer observed subject David James Holmes, 29, of Bluebird Ave., Marco Island, punch victim Josh McDonald several times while at the Crazy Flamingo Restaurant and Bar, 1049 N. Collier Blvd. Holmes was arrested for battery and transported to the Naples Jail Center.

There's a shock, McDonald still getting beat up, when will that lovely paradise change, never, full of losers.

Mr. Roach was stopped and searched for taking a walk at 2 a.m.? Next time leave your reefer at home, pal. In the meantime, maybe we can get the cops a Nintendo Wii so they can make virtual arrests, and not have to waste their time and our money hassling victimless, non-violent offenders.

Is Mr. Roach really his name? If so, what else did the cops expect to find him with?
