Why do you like to cook?
I love to cook probably because I have a big family and all of them love to eat.
Where does that love for cooking come from?
When my kids were growing up I had to cook for them and now I have grandchildren and in-laws. Everybody comes and I just love it. I enjoy working in the kitchen. I love all my bowls and pans and dishes.
Are you creative in the kitchen?
I think so. I never stick to a recipe. I can have a recipe in front of me but I always have to add my two cents to it.
What’s your most famous plate?
I am known for my meatballs, my Italian meatballs. Everybody that has ever tasted them say, “Jan, gee, would you make meatballs today?”
Where did you learn to prepare meatballs?
I actually learned from my ex-husband’s mother who was Italian.
Do you cook for yourself or do you prefer to eat outside?
I don’t like to eat at home alone; I rather go out and eat. But I love to eat at home when people are coming.
