Company Location: The Esplanade at Smokehouse Bay

Years in Business: The Koons are the new owners. The restaurant has been in business for the past four years

Number of Employees: About 50 in season.

Products and Services: The restaurant offers a lunch and dinner menu with daily specials and also a Starbar menu that can be served either inside our outside. The restaurant and Starbar were previously treated as separate entities, says Curt Koon, but now both menus are available at both locations. In addition, both Chef Laura Owen and long-serving General Manager Gligor Tuparov remain in their respective positions.

Hours: 11 a.m. to close, with lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. dinner from 5 p.m. onwards. The Starbar is open from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Both the restaurant and the Starbar are open seven days a week.

Contact Number: 389-4511, reservations are recommended for dining, but not for Starbar seating

Company Goals: To continue capitalizing on a consistent dining experience with quality food and good customer service at this beautiful waterfront location

Comment: “We’ll be serving an Easter brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Sunday, March 23, and if it works well, we’ll continue. We’re in mid-season, so we’re going to collect feedback from customers as well as employees, and obviously ideas from Chef Laura. We’re excited to be here, the Marco people have been very friendly, and we’re ready to find out what the community wants out of the Esplanade, because that’s important as well. We have combined experience of more than 40 years in the corporate world, and have families who have been in the restaurant industry for years” — Curt and Jacquie Koon
