Local restaurants and businesses that are looking to put their establishment on the map will soon get their chance. The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) of Marco Island Charter Middle School is working to create a business and community map for Marco Island and the surrounding area.

Elizabeth Summers, the President of the middle’s school PTO, said she is working in association with Eleanor Ragazinsky of Money Matters, a media marketing company, to create the promotional map.

The goal is a cartoon map to include businesses and community landmarks for Marco Island, Isles of Capri and Goodland. The map will advertise for participating companies, while allowing residents and visitors to visualize the locations they are seeking.

“We’re hoping all to get all of the businesses and restaurants to be able to do this for the school,” said Summers.

Summers said the cartoon map is a fundraiser for the charter middle school. The money raised from the map will go toward educational initiatives not in the school’s current budget.

With the money raised from this year’s map, Summers said she hopes to build a store on the school’s campus that would offer school supplies and clothing with the middle school’s logo.

Summers said she expects the map to be printed in the fall.

For more information or to place an ad, contact Eleanor Ragazinsky at 394-2053. Ragazinsky will have a booth at the business expo at the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort March 27.
