Firefighters extinguished a blaze that erupted Sunday in the laundry room of an East Naples home.
About 7:40 p.m. firefighters received a call about smoke and flames in a laundry and utility room at 2977 Cypress St. About 15 firefighters were on scene by 7:44 p.m., said East Naples fire spokesman Greg Speers.
"When we got there the north side of the house, where the utility room was, there was smoke and heavy flames there," Speers said.
Firefighters extinguished the fire within 10 minutes. The fire was contained to the laundry and utility room, but there was smoke damage throughout the house. The cause of the fire has not been determined, Speers said.
Three men and a teenage boy live in the house, but the teen was not home Sunday night.
The three men got out of the house, as did their four pets - three cats and a dog. One of the men received a minor burn on his hand, but was not transported to the hospital, Speers said. No firefighters were injured.
Collier County EMS and the Collier County Sheriff’s Office were also on scene. Speers said the Collier County Red Cross gave residents of the home vouchers for a local motel.
