The Clerk: Collections Program saves you money

As part of his campaign promise to collect unpaid fines and fees, Clerk of the Circuit Court Dwight E. Brock created the Collections Program in 1995, based upon the belief that those who use the court system should pay for its cost.

The program assists the public in paying court fines and fees, which often involve significant amounts of money.

Some defendants may be unable to pay the full amount at the end of their case. They can make partial payments by signing an agreement to pay the costs over time, in the form of a fixed monthly payment. There is a $25 fee to participate in the Collections Program.

If you cannot pay your minimum monthly payment after you enroll, notify the Clerk’s Collections Department as soon as possible. If you do not, you may have to appear in Court and may have your driver’s license suspended. If you do not appear for the court hearing, you can be arrested. If you are arrested, a “purge clause” allows you to pay your required fee and be released from jail.

The Collections Program was created to serve the public and make the collection process more efficient and effective for those using the criminal justice system and the taxpayers of Collier County.
