— Chairman Bill Trotter suggested Friday that there was the potential for a few items on Monday's City Council agenda to be postponed, however the original full agenda may be back on. Councilor Jerry Gibson suffered a loss in his family and adjustments to the agenda were to be considered if he were absent Monday.

However Gibson said Monday morning that he plans to attend the evening meeting.

Gibson said he lost his girlfriend of 14 years, Staci Kelley, unexpectedly Wednesday morning.

While Gibson's presence at the meeting may have council considering all the original agenda items, City Manager Steve Thompson said it is also possible council may still decide to vote on adjusting the meeting agenda if there is a perception that public attendance is lower due to proposed agenda adjustments.

A press release Friday sent by city Public Information Coordinator Lisa Douglass suggested some items may be tabled to the next regular meeting, 5:30 p.m. Dec. 1 if Gibson were absent.

These items to be considered for tabling were City Manager Steve Thompson’s performance review, the second reading and public hearing of the Landscape Contractor Education and Registration Program, and selection of the consultant for the Electric Municipalization Study. Gibson chairs the committee studying the city's proposed takeover of Lee County Electric Cooperative; he was also among the lead proponents for changes in city requirements of landscape contractors.

The full City Council meeting agenda, including backup attachments, can be viewed on the city’s website at www.cityofmarcoisland.com.
