Letter To The Editor: What iguanas?

STORY TOOLS
Newsvine Del.icio.us Digg Furl Facebook

I just read the article (“Iguana removal begins”)

Iguana removal begins Nov. 1 at the cost of $7,500. Chris Harlow, Wildlife Removal, Inc., is to trap and remove iguanas one day each week for six months.

I’ve lived on Marco Island for many years. I walk every day and I ride a bike on week ends for many miles around Marco Island and I can say I’ve never seen a iguana. Are we paying $7,500.00 to remove them because they’re so hard to find?

Let me know what day your going iguana hunting, I’d like to see one.

bonnie...these are your tax dollars at work from this council....like the landscape consultant for veterans park, like the new police cruiser colors, like the extra street lamps, like the camera on the bridge, like the new water tank and well, and like all the other dollars they are spending on studies, consultants, search firms, new hires, etc.

try riding your bike on the canal side, that is where the iguanas are hanging out

Just because you haven't seen any iguanas doesn't mean they don't exist. There are thousands of these pests that defecate on everything and eat everything in sight; some are as long as 6-7 feet. These iguanas are a very real problem that must be addressed.
