About two weeks after the general election, the Collier County Supervisor of Elections and Collier County Canvassing Board completed recounts in three local races and released the final election results Friday.
Robert Slater was elected to the Fiddlers Creek Community Development District seat 4 by a margin of less than half of a percent. Slater defeated Peggy Schmitt.
Upon the recount it was also determined that Gerry Campkin won the Lely Community Development District seat 5 race by .23 percent. Campkin received 50.13 percent of the votes with 567 voters making him the winner over Vera Orr, who received 49.87 percent of the votes or 564 total votes.
The Collier County Supervisor of Elections also announced Friday that Golden Gate Fire seat 1 was won by Rob Stoneburner, who received 10,659 votes defeating Bret Jameyson, who received 10,603 votes or 49.87 percent of the votes.
The recounts are necessary in races that are within less than half a percent margin on preliminary vote counts. The recounts were certified by Collier County Judge Robert Crown, Collier County Supervisor of Elections Jennifer J. Edwards and Collier County Commissioner Frank Halas. The recount process began Wednesday on the local races and were released by Friday.
Florida Constitutional Amendment 3 passed when it was decided a recount was not necessary. The amendment received 60.5 percent of the votes. Only 60 percent is required. Amendment 3 grants tax exemptions for residents who make energy-efficiency and hurricane-proofing improvements to their property.
