MARCO ISLAND — The Island community is mourning the loss of father and fisherman, Joseph Nugent, 39, of 360 Capri Boulevard, Isles of Capri.
Nugent died Thursday when he lost control of his motorcycle near 1400 19th St. S.W., Golden Gate Estates, according to Collier County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Nugent was southbound at about 12 p.m. when he lost control of the bike and went off the road. The motorcycle went into a culvert and came to a final resting place in a wooded area where Nugent, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead on the scene.
“He will be dearly missed. Joe was really friendly. He was the kind of guy that made everybody laugh,” said friend Sandy Hurley, also a resident of Isles of Capri.
Nugent was a long time Isles of Capri resident, growing up in Florida with his mom Shirley, dad John and brother Todd. Nugent also survives his two sons, Thomas, 12, and Matthew, 10.
Friends say Nugent was a great father and loved to fish with his sons. He was a golfer who dreamed of owning his own business. His dream came true when he opened Nugent’s Electric Company, Hurley said.
Services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Fuller Funeral Home in East Naples, 4735 East Tamiami Trail.
An account is set up for Nugent’s sons at Wachovia Bank. The memorial account is under the name Joseph Nugent, Wachovia Bank, 1090 North Collier Boulevard, Marco Island, (239) 389-3000.

I think the article is wrong, how do you grow up in Florida and have a Boston accent? We will miss you Joe.
