— Theft from boat

David Varisco reported that someone stole several miscellaneous items from his boat stored at Marco Island Yacht Club, 1400 North Collier Boulevard, unit B76. The items were valued at about $980 and were taken sometime between 5 p.m., Nov. 5, and 10 a.m., Nov. 11.

Theft of handicapped parking permit

Sherman LaCost reported that someone had stolen a handicapped parking permit from his vehicle parked in Island Plaza’s parking lot, 686 North Collier Boulevard, around 4 p.m., Nov. 10.

Criminal mischief

Alain Prion reported that someone attempted to break into the outdoor cooler at the Marco Island Yacht Club, 1400 North Collier Boulevard, and damaged the door and a lock in the process. Estimated value of damage, which occurred at 2:45 a.m., Nov. 9, is $30.

Theft of kayak

Mr. and Mrs. Stan Witt reported that their kayak was stolen from the yard outside their residence at 1170 Edington Place, unit A2 between 9 p.m., Nov. 12, and 5 a.m., Nov. 13. Estimated value of property stolen is $2800.

Home burglary

Ann Derwin reported that someone entered her residence at 931 Scott Drive and stole several miscellaneous items valued at approximately $3,718 between 1:45 a.m. and 5:45 a.m., Nov. 14.

Grand theft from person 65 years or older/Uttering forged checks/Possession of controlled substance

Christen M. Catala, 28, of 332 Lamplighter, Marco Island, was arrested after investigators said they found she had stolen a check from someone over age 65 and forged it for $1,000. At the time of her arrest, officers say they found Catala also had a non-prescribed controlled substance, Alprazolam, an anti-anxiety drug commonly known as Xanax. She was taken to the Naples Jail Center at 2:56 p.m., Nov. 15.
