The Lauritzen/Rush Galleries of the Art League, Marco Island’s Center for the Arts will host the 4th annual Mini Masters & Mimosas exhibition and auction from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. next Sunday. This is a perfect event for art collectors, art novices and art giving.
Approximately 100 mini masters are on display now as part of a preview to the silent auction event. All pieces are 5x7 unframed original artworks. Works were submitted in a multitude of media including the traditional painting media such as watercolor, oil and acrylic, but also pastel, mixed media, collage and unique pieces in clay are among the highlights. Minimum bids for mini masters start at $25 each. Bidding will close at 12:30 p.m. and all pieces may be taken at the end of the auction.
As the event implies, mimosas will be served along with hors d’oeuvres. In addition a special musical performance by harpist Kim Adamson will take place. Kim Adamson has been playing music since she was 13. Several instruments have crossed her path over the years; clarinet, banjo, French horn, trombone, mountain dulcimer, piano but for the last 10 years, primarily the harp.
The Mini-Masters Silent Auction is a fundraising event for the Art League to support programming in the arts. In addition to the original works, precut mats will be available for purchase providing the finishing touches making the artwork ready for framing. Admission to the event is free for members of the Art League Center for the Arts and $5 for guests.
This event will be in conjunction with the opening reception for Art: Make Your List & Check It Twice, the annual winter juried exhibition featuring works by members of the Art League, Center for the Arts.
Regular business hours for the Art League are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Information: 394-4221 or visit www.marcoislandart.com.
